Privacy policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
Short version: your plan lives on your phone, not with us. We never ask for your bank login. Files you upload are read and then thrown away. We don't sell your information.
Who we are
The Wallet Method is run by Steven Crews, 325-918 16th Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta T2M 0K3, Canada. Questions about your privacy: [email protected].
Your plan stays on your device
Everything you enter in the app (your pay, bills, wallet, spending, goals and debts) is saved in your phone or computer's browser storage. It is not sent to us, and we can't see it. There is no account.
That also means we can't recover it. If you clear your browser data or lose your phone, the plan is gone unless you saved a backup. A backup is a file you save yourself, from Settings in the app.
Statements and pay stubs you upload
When you upload a bank statement, a credit card statement or a pay stub, the file is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which runs on Cloudflare. Our server passes it to Google's Gemini AI service to read. The result (the transactions, the totals, or a card's balance, minimum payment and interest rate) comes back to your phone.
- We don't save the file or the result on our server, and we don't log what's in it.
- Google processes the file under its own terms for its AI service.
- When the app helps you go through your bills, it sends the bill names and monthly amounts (no account numbers) to the same AI service to write a question about each one.
- To stop abuse, our server briefly uses your internet (IP) address to limit how many files can be sent in a minute. It isn't stored with anything else.
Feedback you send
The app has a "Tell Steve what you think" button. If you use it, only what you type (and your email, if you choose to add it) is sent to our server on Cloudflare, so Steve can read it and reply. Nothing from your plan is sent with it. We keep feedback messages so we can act on them; email us to have yours deleted.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, the type of device, the rough location (city level), and where visitors came from. The app also sends a few named events, such as "finished setup" or "uploaded a statement". It never sends amounts, names, or anything you type or upload. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out add-on.
We also count how many people arrive from links in our books (a daily total per link). That count has no personal information in it.
Our email list
If you sign up for emails, we keep your email address and a record of your consent: the words you agreed to, the page, the time, and your country. We use it only to send Wallet Method tips and free printables. Emails are sent through Google Workspace. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address from the list.
Buying from us
Purchases are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we never see your card number. We receive your name, email address and what you bought, so we can deliver it and help if something goes wrong.
Who else sees anything
Only the services named above, each for the job described: Cloudflare (hosting), Google (AI reading, Analytics, email) and Stripe (payments). We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you (in practice, an email address or a purchase record), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. We follow Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA) and answer every request.
Children
The app and this website are for adults. Our children's books are for parents to share with their kids. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
